ERIC ELSHTAIN & PEGGY MACNAMARA

“SUE’S TRUE SKULL”

limited edition Verge Ephemera broadside

11” x 17“

At Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History, poet in residence, Eric Elshtain, and artist in residence, Peggy Macnamara, respond to perhaps the most iconic item in the Field’s collection - Sue, the 40-foot-long Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton that once greeted visitors as they entered the museum. In 2018, Sue was moved to a dedicated exhibit space. There, the original crushed skull, discovered with the other fossilized bones of the dinosaur in 1990, rests in a case near the largely reconstructed skeleton on display. Elshtain and Macnamara consider the mirrored artifacts, found and fabricated.
